Hagane Luka by MAYGUSTA Hagane Luka by MAYGUSTA
Shows off a bit of the make up and also is my favourite shot of the lot, so double win! You'll have to excuse my scars... or maybe it works with the darker, metal theme of this Luka?

If you're interested in a made-to-measure cosplay, note me and I'll quote you!

I wonder...what material did you use to make it?? It looks like leather~ And would you recommend making it out of leather or would you suggest something else?? Anyway, your cosplay's beautiful!! <3 You're so pretty :3

Thank you! I used a leatherette/pleather material because it was much cheaper and a LOT lighter to wear than actual leather (also, I couldn't justify using real leather for a costume Dx!!), and given that this was at Anime North, I really didn't want the heat of wearing leather.

There is a lot of give in pleather, and I used a nylon thread to stitch it (as opposed to cotton) to make sure that the piece was durable and wouldn't fall apart. The pleather is pretty tough, still, so I didn't want the thread snapping on me (that would have been terrible as I wasn't wearing much under that skirt, haha!!).

Also, the skirt for Okurine/Hagane Luka has this strange kind of arcane star/circle (more visible on the back of the male version [link] here) and I tried a few fabrics and the pleather was the only one that allowed me to use a permanent marker. The other fabrics like starched cotton and satin made the ink from the pen bleed across the fabric and it looked really shoddy, haha.

Overall pleather was the best bet, I think. The only criticism I'd have about the pleather was the inside. It wasn't the softest material, and lining it with cotton would have made it muuuuch softer, but it also would have made it probably too hot to wear at Anime North considering the temperature. Maybe not, though, as the skirt is so open, haha...

Sorry for rambling! Dx If you have any other questions/need any help, drop me a line~
